Transient

Waves of deadly pandemic brought an overwhelming sense of impermanence to the world. The second wave exacted a shattering toll in Melbourne.

The Yarra River of old cut and looped seaward. Urban development straightened some sections, widened others, and rendered it mud-coloured. Herring Island, a serene eight-acre spread of native bushland, was constructed as part-strategy to address recurrent flood havoc wreaked by the river.

In Transient, ephemeral images and faded wash of blue intersect with the tenacity of fragile-looking grasses as a river flows strong. Hope is around the corner from bleak and the surreal narrative embeds moments of crystal stillness.
